What can the U.S. Retail Auto Industry Learn from New York Climate Week 2024?

What can the U.S. Retail Auto Industry Learn from New York Climate Week 2024?

First: Key Thoughts for Dealers Before National Drive Electric Week. National Drive Electric Week (Sept 27 - Oct 6) is Dealers' time to shine! Host test drives to build community and move electric units faster.

Table of contents

Community EV test-drives build comfort, trust, and sales momentum, as it creates network effects and word-of-mouth, not to mention can drive immediate sales. Also preparing your digital assets to showcase range and savings is extremely key. My team at Lectrium, especially my Co-Founder Zygimantas Zabieta , are working around the clock to set-up dealers with our EV VDP bundles ahead of this week. Boost conversions fast! Similarly, New York Climate Week offers key insights into the future of clean technologies and their enthusiasm, including EVs.

New York Climate Week 2024

Heads up for my Automotive connections: the week of September 21 - 28 can best be described as the ā€œSuper Bowl for Climate,ā€ or the ā€œNADA of Climate Technology.ā€ The passion from entrepreneurs, investors, and climate-conscious humans is insane…

EVs are obviously better for the environment, but to reach higher adoption numbers, the focus needs to be on the practicality, user-experience, and for businesses like Car Dealerships and OEMs, the bottom line impact of retailing EVs.

Yes, long-term goals to reduce net Greenhouse gas emissions like achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 in the USA, and the Paris Agreement goal of limiting average temperature increase to below 2 degrees Celsius are very important, but they have to make practical and financial sense for the people and businesses adopting the technology in real time. Said otherwise, for clean technology (like EVs) to gain mass adoption, the consumer experience and the business opportunity both have to be obviously better than the incumbent. More on this soon!

Climate Week šŸ¤ Retail Automotive

The Climate community is awesome, and I want to invite Retail Auto professionals to experience this week in NYC either in person or virtually. By selling EVs, dealers and their employees are making a bigger impact on the world than most other industries, and dealers should celebrate successes and impact!

Climate Week is the largest event of its kind in the world, bringing together business leaders, scientists, policymakers, activists, and stakeholders for seven days of events.

Now, back to what Retail Auto can learn from this week!

Dealers: Seize the EV opportunity

Millennials and Gen Z, now America’s largest car-buying demographic, care more about EVs and the environment. Dealers who adapt will earn long-term loyalty & LTV.

If you want to build this EV marketing and sales muscle, Lectrium has 2 live products. We are launching more later this year. Join the hundreds of dealers already working with Lectrium! Also, if you will be at Digital Dealer Conference & Expo , check out our booth #211!

Retail Automotive & EVs Today

EVs can be tough right now given high days supply & lower gross, but for the right buyers, they are becoming more & more desirable. 9% of new cars sold in recent months are electric across the USA. Norway just hit 94% of new cars sold being electric!

Dealers who plan annually, not month-to-month. Where do you want your EV sales to be 1-year from now? 3-years from now? 5-years from now? Are you capturing the younger generation of car buyers who care more about clean technology?

Exact points Retail Auto can learn from NY Climate Week:

  • Enthusiasts are a key demographic, whether that be brand, technology, or climate
  • Younger demographics are more likely to purchase EVs
  • The ā€œtipping point for EV Adoptionā€ has already been reached. There is no going back.
  • Dealers should take credit for the C02 they help remove from the atmosphere by selling EVs!
  • Climate technology and helping save our planet is cool, and dealers should embrace it
